With her recent YouTube hit '212' and popular collaborations with both Lunice and Machinedrum; Harlem's Azealia Banks is without doubt currently making a name for herself as a multi-talented rapper/singer extraordinaire, and rightly so. The ability to combine an insane flow with well crafted lyrics, which are both explicit, yet fun, is a talent you don't come across that often, especially in female rappers. Its almost impossible not to fall into the temptation of comparing the 20 year old to her fellow LaGuardia alumni; Nicki Minaj. Another, maybe the only other, current example of a female rapper who's abilities behind the mic sit comfortably amongst those at the top of the game. However, unlike Nicki, Azealia is also a gem in the singing category, the side of her talents she actually prefers.

As reported in an interview with Pitchfork, Banks reveals she is working on a new album with Paul Epworth, the British master mind behind Adele's 21 as well as Florence & The Machine'sCeremonials. The project is being recorded in London; "me [Azealia] and Paul Epworth are going to bang this shit out. He's doing the whole thing. The idea is to make it fun-- not like a musical, but event-ful-- so it's not just me rapping over beats." where Azealia is also in discussion's with an undisclosed major label, with a possible signing in the near future.

As well as all this, Banks has also revealed she will be releasing four new tracks in the near future, which will be followed by a UK tour (NME Awards Tour) in February, along with Two Door Cinema Club, Metronomy and Tribes.

Hip-Hop Artist Dessa Breaks The Mold

Critically-acclaimed musician Dessa is no stranger to the hip-hop scene.

A member of the popular Doomtree Collective for hip-hop artists, the Minneapolis native has released three albums featuring her eloquent lyricism. But Dessa — a white woman from Minneapolis and graduate of the University of Minneapolis — is not the typical hip-hop artist.

"At the beginning of my career I worried about [my background] a lot. I wanted to make sure that I seemed credible ... that I was paying the respect that's due to the music that was largely innovated by another culture set. And then, ten years in, you worry about, 'Is this song good?'" Dessa said.

Female hip-hop artists are few and far between. In a field full of rampant misogyny, Dessa noted that most women rappers try to hate women more than the men do, or put women high on a pedestal.

"Neither really spoke to me," Dessa said. "So if I talk about trying to make rent or falling in love and trying to stay that way ... people will say 'I resonate with that human experience.' I've found that humanism is the best feminism.

Born Maggie Wander, Dessa took her stage name from the Greek word for "Wander." Unlike most hip-hop artists, Dessa raps and sings.

"In my heart of hearts, I don't think it's different enough if I sing a line with a little bit of melody or if I rap it with just an intonation of melody to make it a different genre," Dessa said.

Dessa's unique background is what makes her music remarkable. Having graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in philosophy, Dessa views hip hop music as a way to share theories of culture and society in a more relatable way than is possible in academia.

"It seems like Camus and Sartre and the philosophers' names who we know, we know because they were creative writers," Dessa said. "So I figured if I could do creative writing to express some of those ideas, I'd have a more significant foothold, culturally."

Dessa's third and newest album is called "Castor the Twin."

Kenya has a new female rapper, Ajabu – real name Lillian Maingi. She is the emerging new artiste proudly representing Kenya globally. Ajabu, who is based in the UK, is visiting with family and friends.

There is more than enough room for Nicki Minaj & Lola Monroe to co exist in the world of *Female Rappers* without any animosity or tension. Both of these ladies are both very young and in recent events,the talk of what is hot in female rap.For quite some time,most people have been under the impression that there is some sort of fued or *Beef* between the two ladies. Now i guess some could say this is justified over the fact that we have yet to see them do a song together or have any type of stage performances together. But,they haven't exactly bad mouthed each other either. But this is not ufc nor is it high school. It's rap and in my opinion,Lola Monroe and Nicki minaj on a song together woud be epic and definitely something worth hearing from the two new femcees.

Nicki Minaj deals with her music from a more entertaining and animated perspective. Known for making various songs come to life with her frantic rants,bi-polar grunts and schizophrenic alter-ego,even if you think some of her lyrics are silly or just down right childish you can't help but admit that she is entertaining. It's not all fun and games with her though. Nicki has no problem showcasing her skills as a rapper with songs like "Fly" and "Moment 4 life" songs where you hear the rapstresss on a less aggresive note and a more serious one. The versatility of Nicki as a songwriter has always impressed me. Nicki has been able to catch the attention from both men and females who support her bizarre costumes and crazy persona.

Lola Monroe deals with her music from a more poetic and spirtual perspective. Wanting to prove that although modeling is where her career may have began,rapping is most definitely where her passion resides. Knowing that this was going to be difficult she dropped her 4th mixtape *Boss Bitchs World 2 Batteries Not Included* which showcased Lola lyrically focused and exercising her claim to be taken seriously as a rapper,and in the process,eliminating all claims that a former *model* cant be taken seriously as a rapper. Earning her a Bet Award Nomination,Batteries Not Included is without a doubt Lola's best mixtape to date and really made the public's view of her do a 360 turn,for the better. Dawning herself as The Queen Bosset and referring to her male fans as *Bosses* and female fans as *Bossets*,Lola has let it be known that there is more than meets the eye than just the outer exterior.

These two ladies definitely have what it takes to be great in there own right so i think it's ludicrous to think that just because there are two new female rappers on the scene that they automatically have a rivalry with each other. Of course i can picture the two competing with each other out of the sport of *Friendly Competition* but to put it in simple terms,there never was nor is there any Beef,Fued or rivalry between these two ladies.

This is Kim's first major label signing since leaving Atlantic Records (under the Warner Music Group umbrella- which was recently bought out) in 2008. Lil' Kim was also signed through Universal Music Group through it's indie label Brookland/Federal Distribution, releasing the single "Download," featuring T-Pain & Charlie Wilson.

I would like to introduce you,to one of the key players' who is representing for the new era and new breed of Female Emcees.Her name.......Lola Monroe.

Back in 2009,Lola Monroe made her debut onto the music scene.Now i was aware of who Lola was,i recognized her from a few music videos i seen before.Now i can't lie,when i first found out that she was pursuing a career in *Rap* i immediately assumed where it would be headed,another model turned *Rapper* trying to maintain spotlight in the industry.But like everybody else i gave her a fair chance and listened to her *Boss Bitchs World* mixtape.Was i impressed............no.....not at all! I was not convinced that this woman really wanted a career in Hip-Hop and so i decided to stop there.I mean,of course the lady is very beautiful,and i never denied that,ever! But looks aren't enough for me.I needed talent,substance,hunger and something that really makes me stop and listen.I heard a few song's and features from her 2nd mixtape *The Art Of Motivation* that made me go "Hmmmm" but i still needed that extra drive.She did a mixtape with fellow rapper Lil boosie,but just like the other's,i wasen't that impressed.Overall,i was starting to believe what i assumed in the beginning.............Another Model Turned Rapper..........and i didn't like it.

And that's when i realized.I didn't analyze her enough,i didn't listen to what she had to say close enough.I felt funny,i felt like i could have realized the bigger picture if i payed attention to her a little bit better than what i did.In a way,i felt like,i didn't give her the proper chance the first time.

But than i realized,of course just like everything else,everything happeans for a reason.

Me opening up my eyes to her and being impressed by Lola based off of her 4th mixtape caused me to stop and retrace her steps and listen to her all over again from the beginning.

Ya know something? It's one thing to like a Artist based off of what they do and what they say in there music,but it's another thing when u gain awhole new level of respect for them based off of what they do outside of there music,and inside there daily life.

If i didn't decide to give Lola Monroe a 2nd chance,i would have never found out that she is a Humanitarian.I would have never found out that she is involved in her community and gives back to those that helped raise her to be a woman.

I recently browsed her official website.And i came across something

And after coming across that....i didn't need to see anymore.I decided right then and there that i was gonna support Lola Monroe for the rest of her journey.

Although some may argue and say i am not a real *fan* since i didn't understand her in the beginning,my story is different than those who followed her from the beginning.She showed me growth,struggle,pain,hurt,joy and determination which all resulted into me becoming a supporter.It's kinda funny if u think about it,how i became a Lola Fan.But now that i think about it.It all makes sense to me.

Life is about growing and learning from your mistakes and being able to pick yourself up off the ground.Life is about making a difference in your life and those around u.Some may not understand u at first,but eventually,they will.Just look at me

2009-Was not a Lola Fan since i didn't think she was ready for the music game yet.I thought she still had a long way to go and that it would take her forever to impress me even in the slightest way.

2011-I consider myself a Lola Monroe Fan because of the growth and development in her music.She is more confident in herself and is a free spirit in my opinion.She is a humanitarian who is giving back to her community and why? because that same community she is giving back to helped mold her into the woman that she is today.You gotta respect that,most people forget where they came from.I'm glad Lola didn't.

And that ladies and gentlemen is why i feel that Lola Monroe is one of the women that is representing the new breed of female emcees.

The baddest rapper in the business checks in with Out to chat about her colossal new collaboration with DJ David Guetta, the possibility of writing the theme song for Ricki Lake's new talk show, and how she felt about Eminem using a homophobic slur on her track "Roman's Revenge."

Last October, Out was one of the first magazines to try and contain the ferociousness of Nicki Minaj within its pages. Since then, she's released her hugely successful debut album, Pink Friday, which broke a mess of records including the most consecutive weeks in the Top 10 by a female rapper. Nicki has also had the most appearances at one time by a female rapper on the Billboard Hot 100. In the last six months she's also gone on tour with Lil' Wayne, debuted a slew of videos, including her most recent for "Super Bass," and guest starred on tracks by Britney Spears and, most recently, megawatt DJ David Guetta.

We caught up with Nicki to find out more about her collaboration with Guetta on the soon-to-be biggest jam of the summer, "Where Them Girls At," which also features Flo Rida, her interest in writing a theme song for Ricki Lake's new talk show, and how she felt about the homophobic slur Enimem unleashed on her track "Roman's Revenge."

Out: A couple of months ago you said you didn’t want to do any more guest spots on tracks -- except perhaps for Britney Spears -- so you could concentrate on your own music. What was it about David Guetta and "Where Them Girls At" that made you change your mind?
Nicki Minaj: When I heard it, I knew it was a smash. It’s one of those records. When something comes on and just makes you feel euphoric and you just get out of your seat and the second time they play it you already know all the words -- that’s the feeling it gave me. So Flo Rida was on it and the hook was already on it. And David actually asked me to be on it, and I said, "No -- if I’m going to do something with you, let it be just me." But when I heard the record, it was so undeniable. I said, “You know what? This makes me happy. I can imagine girls in the club bucking out to this record. Let me get on it." Because, honestly, I did want to minimize my guest appearances, but I’m no fool. [Laughs]

How do you come up with your lyrics? If someone reaches out to you to do a guest spot, do you already have a notebook full of lyrics to pull from or do you write rhymes specifically for each track?
Ninety-nine percent of the time I’m writing something specific to each track. Especially the busier I am, the less writing I’m doing. When I’m home, like when I was home working on Pink Friday, then I have some stuff already sitting there in my notebooks. But when I’m on the road, no. It’s like when someone sends me something, it’s brand new off the top of my head, whatever that beat makes me feel.
